PRIVACY GITDÚ

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 28, 2026

Overview

Gitdú is a desktop Git client from RemoterLabs, LLC. It is designed to work with repositories on your computer, and you do not need an account to use it. Your repositories and app data stay on your device unless you choose a feature that connects to an external service.

Anonymous usage information

Gitdú may send anonymous information about app usage directly to RemoterLabs, solely to help us improve Gitdú. We do not send this usage information to third parties, use it for advertising, or sell it.

Information stored on your device

Gitdú saves repository bookmarks, workspace state, and app preferences on your device. Git activity and repository contents remain in your local repositories unless you choose to send them elsewhere, for example by using a Git remote or the optional assistant. Gitdú does not upload your repositories to RemoterLabs.

Git network activity

When you use Git operations such as fetch, pull, or push, Gitdú connects to the remote repository address configured for that repository. The remote host receives the information needed to carry out the operation, which may include your IP address, Git protocol data, and authentication handled through your configured Git or SSH tools. The remote provider's privacy terms apply to its services.

Gitdú can also run commands in its integrated terminal and supports Git hooks and configured helper programs in the direct-download app. Those commands may access the network based on what you run and how your computer is configured.

Optional AI assistant

If you configure and use the assistant, Gitdú sends your prompt and the context needed for that request to the OpenAI-compatible service endpoint you choose. This can include the repository name, current branch, staged and unstaged file paths, the selected history reference, and results returned by the assistant's Git tools, such as status, remotes, branch history, or conflict-file contents when requested. Gitdú does not automatically send every repository file or diff.

The assistant provider receives those requests directly; RemoterLabs does not operate as a relay and does not receive the assistant conversation. The provider may process or retain prompts and responses under its own terms and settings. Review the provider's privacy policy before enabling the assistant, and avoid sending information you do not want that provider to receive. Assistant conversation content is held for the lifetime of the repository window and is not saved by Gitdú as conversation history.

Gitdú stores the assistant endpoint settings on your device. It stores the name of the environment variable used for an API key, not the key itself.

Website

This website does not currently provide accounts, contact forms, payments, analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts. The hosting and network infrastructure used to serve the site may process basic connection and request information, such as an IP address, browser details, and requested page, to deliver and protect the service. We do not use that information for advertising or user profiling.

Service providers and sharing

RemoterLabs never sells your data or shares your app data or anonymous usage information with third parties. Gitdú may communicate directly with a Git remote or assistant provider when you choose to use or configure that service. The selected provider receives the information needed for your request under its own privacy terms; that information is sent to the provider by Gitdú, not through RemoterLabs.

This website does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts. Its hosting provider may automatically process basic technical request information to serve and protect the site, as described above.

Changes

We may update this policy as Gitdú and its website change. We will post the current version on this page and update the date above.
